PETER AND PAUL FORTRESS: TOUR AT THE HEART OF ST. PETERSBURG

The Peter and Paul Fortress foundation date marks the city' s birthday. It was Peter the Great himself who placed the first stone in the foundation of the fortress, choosing the island because of its location, which, if required, could serve to fortify the city' s approaches during the Great Northern War. The fortress is not unreasonably considered to be the historical centre of the city and one of its most intriguing sights.

The Peter and Paul Fortress has become a cultural heritage site, and there are a number of museums and exhibition spaces that are open to the public. Exploring the fortress and touring its grounds is an essential part of a visit to St. Petersburg.

During the visit:
You will enter the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, where members of the Romanov dynasty were buried. You will also visit the Trubetskoy Bastion Prison and take a walk on the Neva Curtain Lookout (optional).

Average tour duration is about 1.5 hours.
We recommend to do this tour with a tour around Saint Petersburg or any other tour you like.
