THE RUSSIAN MUSEUM: EXPLORING THE ART UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL.

The museum has the world's largest collection of Russian art, with the oldest exhibits dating back to the 12th century. Take a tour of the museum's greatest masterpieces and discover how art has evolved over eight centuries. The museum collection is housed in six buildings, with the main part of the collection on display in the Mikhailovsky Palace, on the Square of Arts.

During a tour of the major masterpieces in the museum's collection, you'll learn how Russian art came to be and what it was like, who the first artists were and how art has evolved over more than eight centuries. What's more, you'll find yourself in one of the city's most beautiful palaces, whose interiors seem to have been created for the masterpieces of the future collection, including works by Bryullov, Shishkin, Aivazovsky, Repin and many others.
